About the event

Join us for Legacy of Love with Nubia Henderson! Join us for this 3-part parenting workshop series where women learn tools to connect, heal and communicate to create a legacy of love in their families. In this first session you will connect with your emotions, inner child, and community.

This group will be facilitated by Nubia Henderson of Nubia Lives Yoga.

As a core principle, Nubia teaches that self-love is the foundation for all positive change in our relationships, especially within ourselves and our communities. Activating this principle, she creates spaces for family yoga and mindfulness practice in underserved communities.

After the birth of her daughter Nubia was really challenged to live her yoga and returned to her roots of West African dance, Kundalini yoga and meditation. Her journey of self-love and passion for children led her to create kids jamm, signature child-centered classes combining music and movement with prescriptive techniques and strategies for behavior management for ADD+ADHD, effective parent-child communication and identifying emotional triggers.

Post-pandemic, kids jamm programming has shifted to an online, on-demand video model . In response to the mental health crisis compounded by the pandemic, Nubia has expanded her services to include a focus on speaking and coaching parents and caregivers through a new program called The Legacy of Love Experience, based on the L.OV.E. H.E.A.L.S framework.

Nubia’s mission is for the BIPOC community to heal intergenerational trauma and create a legacy of love by incorporating the tools of breathwork, movement and meditation in their daily lives.

She has facilitated professional development, training sessions, brand partnerships and healing circles for organizations such as After School Matters, Polished Pebbles, The University of Chicago, The Art Institute, Bally Total Fitness, Yahoo! and Carole Robertson Learning Center.

By applying an arts-integrated approach to sharing the tools of yoga and mindfulness, Nubia provides a safe container her clients to "live what you love, from the inside out."

A Howard University Alumna, Nubia holds a 500-hour yoga and Y.O.G.A for Youth certification, is a trained circle keeper and former PreK-12 educator. To invoke more joy and peace into daily life, she dances and practices mindfulness with her darling daughter, Zahara.
